I am emotionally drawn toward the street art markings made by human hands and creative minds around Hobart. I enjoy the contrast it portrays between the digital age we live in, and, I believe, both our need as well as desire to still create visual messages by hand using physical materials.
The art displayed on the traffic signal and electrical boxes in Hobart (and around the rest of the country) in particular, adds a both beautiful and interesting element to the street scene. It tells me, that the relationship between the two – handmarks and digital communications – can be positive, progressive and wonderful, and I for one will continue to encourage and support it both at home with my children and in the community. Our heart and soul need it.
